Manager Fate & Metabolism
The Manager Fate & Metabolism assumes a wide range of scientific and technical duties associated with the supervision, conduct and reporting of various Fate & Metabolism projects. The Manager Fate & Metabolism is also responsible for the supervision of the professional and technical staff (includes but is not limited to reviews, promotions, and accounting of time worked.) The Manager Fate & Metabolism is expected to take initiative and develop novel approaches to fate & metabolism problem-solving and to assist in the development and maintenance of relations leading to new business opportunities. The person will develop new methodology for study conduct and new technologies. Duties include training technicians, performing routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, and instrument calibration.
The Manager Fate & Metabolism will be 50% hands on running instruments and problem solving, and 50% at a desk as a working manager.
The Manager of Chemistry will be supervising 10-12 people in the Fate & Metabolism group. This person will be directing laboratory technicians and Jr. Chemists.

Senior Chemist (Product Chemistry)
This position reports directly to the Manager, Chemistry and involves both supervisory and technical expertise. The chemist will be responsible for maintenance of selected equipment, primarily High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Mass Spectrometry, and other standard and non-standard analytical instrumentation. Additionally, the chemist will develop new methodology for analysis of trace constituents in testing media (water, soil, tissue) worked with in the lab. After method development, some period of routine analysis (usually weeks) is required and transmission of an understanding of the method to professional and technical help is done. Results of the routine analysis are compiled and reported to various personnel in the facility, as well as clients. Finally, supervision of the technical staff is split up amongst the chemists. Responsibility for reviews, promotions, and accounting of time worked are some of the tasks.
Job Summary
The Senior Research Chemist is expected to take initiative and develop novel approaches to analytical problem solving. Past job experience or training gained obtaining a Masters degree appropriate to analytical chemistry is required. The Senior Research Chemist is expected to have developed an ability to develop methods quickly, and have enough experience with different types of methodology to provide themselves as a reference source for other analytical chemists in the facility. Additionally, the individual must be able to represent Springborn Smithers Laboratories, to clients both over the phone and in person, and transmit a professional image. This position has the capability to act as a Study Director for analytical chemistry studies conducted at Springborn Smithers.
Skills and Experience:

M.S./Ph.D. in Chemistry or related subject area, or B.S. in Chemistry or related subject area plus 5-7 years job experience.

Proficient in documentation and procedures required by Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations and Springborn Smithers Laboratories Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Experience in a CRO preferred
